I DIN'T KNOW I WAS PREGNANT - UNTIL I HAD A BABY..!

When Claire Durick fell ill at her dad's wedding, she assumed she had food poisoning. But when she was rushed to hospital, the doctor delivered a surprise...

Claire Durick unknowingly flew at nine months pregnant
Even now, sometimes when I look at Carter, I have to pinch myself that I have really had a baby. For until I gave birth to him, having a baby was something I only thought about; something to be planned in the dim and distant future.
Certainly, I never imagined that the stomach pains I had were because I was having a baby - I thought I had food poisoning.
In fact, I'd read stories like mine in magazines and thought, 'How ridiculous. That person must have known they were pregnant' - that is until I experienced it myself. But there I was, 18 months ago, getting on a plane to Oklahoma in the US for my father's wedding, with no idea that I was actually nine months pregnant.
The first sign that something wasn't right was when I woke the day of my father's wedding feeling off colour. I put my thick head down to a hangover.
Horrifyingly, the night before I'd been out for a celebratory dinner with family and friends, and as I hauled myself out of bed, I regretted having one glass too many...
But I managed to get myself ready for the wedding, and as I stood watching my father, David, get married, I was still feeling slightly queasy.
I took some painkillers and felt a bit better, so I assumed all was well. The following morning, we all left to make the five-hour drive from Oklahoma to my father's house in New Hampshire on the east coast.
The wedding went off without a hitch, but that night, as everyone was enjoying the party, I felt shattered. I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong with me, but when I woke up the next day with stomach cramps, I decided I must have food poisoning. Read more: www.dailymail.co.uk

This is beyond me to have this happen, you would have to have no connection to your body at all.

I've heard of this before. It happens on occasion, and I trust that it's real and these women are telling the truth. But like the story says, weight is a huge factor. This can only happen to fat people. GOOD SHOW, UR ON ANOTHER LEVEL SPORAH

"one smart question did these women ever have a period ,did they ever miss a period, did they not know what was happening every month.....I mean are they periodless, continue with a period for nine months ? DID I miss something growing up"

Well, you seemed to have *missed* the part about the women typically suffering from PCOS.

Women with that condition have an irregular menstrual cycle. They very commonly miss periods. In fact, many of them may experience only a couple of bleeding cycles per year.

Other women can continue to bleed monthly for a vast stretch of weeks after conception, sometimes throughout the entire pregnancy.

So, yeah. There seems to be a lot that you missed.

I just had a very similar experience in April. I woke up around 4 am with sharp pains in my stomach. No matter what I did I could not get comfortable. Around 6 am, my husband was leaving for work and I told him I would call if I didnt feel better after a few hours of sleep. Around 9 am I called him and said I felt as if I needed to go to the hospital. He left work, picked me up, and we headed for the ER. I thought my appendix had burst or something. Five minutes after being checked in at the hospital, I was called back to be examined after the routine urine screen and other tests. The doctors put the ultrasound machine on my stomach and I thought nothing of it because thats what they use to check lots of things. Then I heard one doctor say to the other "Yeah, shes pretty far along." I guess I made a weird face or something because the next thing they said was "Oh, you didnt know that youre pregnant?" I was then told I was about 40 WEEKS!!! I was 4 cm dilated and was rushed up to labor and delivery. I had time to opt for the epidural and was glad I went to the hospital when I did. 10 hours later I gave birth to a completely healthy baby boy, 7lbs 8oz. Other than being in complete shock, I was completely fine too. I had no complications. I never gained any weight throughout my pregnancy or had any other symptoms other than digestive problems, which wasnt a red flag for me because I have GERD and recurring stomach ulcers. I had started eating pretty healthy thinking it would help my stomach problems and had even lost a few lbs. 2 weeks after giving birth I weighed 125 lbs, which is lower than my normal avg weight by about 10-15 lbs. The craziest part about all of this is that I watch that show "I didnt know I was pregnant" all the time and say "How do you not know that youre pregnant?"....And guess who it happens to!!! I am enjoying my little miracle now and he is growing so fast! Its still hard for me to believe somedays. I just cant wait until hes old enough for me to tell him this story!
