How long have you been singing?

Ever since I was a child. I was always walking around singing - in the house, on the fact, (my mother reliably informs me) when I was born I screamed so loud that even the obstetrician exclaimed "...she's got a good pair of lungs on her! This one's going to be an opera singer!" Fate? Perhaps! A funny...but true story!!

Throughout all my school years, from the ripe age of 4 onwards, I was always singled out for the nativities, end of term concerts, plays, poetry readings and anything else that required me to stand on a stage. Eventually this led to my attending University at Dartington College of Arts in Devon & studied Contemporary Music / Theatre and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours. Thereafter, I returned to London & to classical music, when I decided to go down the operatic pathway. And so continued to have private singing lessons in order to build & solidify my vocal technique. I went on various language/acting & opera courses to improve certain areas that needed fine tuning before embarking on my professional journey!

With over 10 years experience my work incorporates Staged Productions, Recitals, Commercials, TV, Radio, Hollywood film soundtrackrecordings, voice-over work, singing lessons, vocal coaching, entertainment for high end corporate events, success as a popular wedding singer in London, street performance on a 7 star middle eastern man-made island, and have toured in Asia, Australia and New York. My vocal flexibility, ranges from operatic and classical works through to musical theatre, jazz, cabaret, all genres of pop and contemporary pieces, offering something for everyone to cater to your taste!

I have performed with established companies such as Kentish Opera, Opera on the Run, Operatique, London Operaworks & City Opera, which have led me to sing at prestigious venues such as The Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Barbican Centre, St Albans Cathedral, Southwark Cathedral, Birmingham Symphony Hall. Corporate clients include Harrods, The Emirates Stadium, The Austrian Embassy, The National Maritime Museum, Leeds Castle, Dali Universe County Hall, The Royal Automobile Club, The Heritage Motor Centre, The Ritz Hotel, The Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, Vinopolis Wine Centre, Mortons, Home House, Dartmouth House and The Lansdowne Club. Through my varied performance packages, I have performed as part of the Brighton, Howden, Camden & Edinburgh Festivals (UK), The Langen Festival (Germany) and as far as New York, Australia and The Pearl Qatar (Middle East).

I am also an experienced session singer, having recorded material at the world reknowned Abbey Road Studios and Air Studios. Having recorded with the Purcell Singers, my vocals can be heard on the soundtracks and trailers to: Madagascar 2, King Kong, War of the Worlds, The Da Vinci Code, Spider-man 3, The Fantastic Four, The Island , Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire & also feature on the original West End cast recording of Cameron Macintosh's production, Mary Poppins and on the trailer for the West End production of Flashdance the Musical. Amongst my recording credits are clients such as XBox, BBC, The English National Opera and Unilever commercials.

I am a keen supporter of various charities and perform regularly for Charity Fundraising and Awareness Events with organisations such as Marie Curie Cancer Care, UK Hospices, Macmillan Cancer Care, Breast Cancer Awareness and The Railway Children.

Opera singer is called an "opera singer" because they sing in operas. This is why they are called opera singers. It's a profession not style of singing. Opera is sub-genre of classical vocal music. "popera" or classical crossover is not opera, it's a very different genre; each genre has its merits and appeals to different people.
