THIS IS HOW WE CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S 2012..!

International Women's Day (8 March) is an occasion marked by women's groups around the world. This date is also commemorated at the United Nations and is designated in many countries as a national holiday. When women on all continents, often divided by national boundaries and by ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic and political differences, come together to celebrate their Day, they can look back to a tradition that represents at least nine decades of struggle for equality, justice, peace and development

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY EVERYONE..!

AND THIS IS HOW SPORAH STARTED CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY.

THEN PEREZ OCHIENG
Hello Perez, Welcome to the show

  1. Perez Ochieng is the CEO of  SACOMA, an innovative organisation that has provided business support to SMES for the last 12years.
  2. SACOMA is a Diaspora led organization that has been at the forefront of economic development and wealth creation of people from the Sub-Saharan Africa communities living in the UK and Abroad. We provide Skills and business development services, loans, mutual aids funds to help the SME led by these communities to thrive and become sustainable for job creation. Our microfinance loan funds and enterprise skills are changing lives for poor households in East Africa. Our social enterprise business model is helping mobilize the Diaspora contributions, human and financial capital towards the development of their countries and communities of  origin.
How have you managed to succeed in business in such a challenging time?
It is by God’s grace that achievement to this scale is possible. It’s not easy to pinpoint one thing that makes success. It is rather a combination of activities from reactivity, constant innovation and creativity, and seeking new opportunities which I am willing to fearlessly pursue and be committed to.

Simone, Eliana & Vaneza, from left to right.

W.A.G holds a book club, the aim of the book club is to get women talking and sharing. Every month W.A.G sets a topic for discussion and a book based on this topic is read by members. Then women are invited to come and talk about the book and their experiences of the topic. This encourages women to share their experiences, fosters links in the community and points women in the direction of any local services that could be of use to them. Alongside the book club, W.A.G. also provides volunteering opportunities and training for members to become mentors to up and coming new members.
