MY UNCLE USED TO TOUCH ME UNDER MY UNDERWEAR, HE SEXUALLY ABUSED ME.! MY MOM COMPLETELY IGNORE ME "ONLY BECAUSE HE IS HER TWIN BROTHER"

Hi Sporah, My name is Abigali  stay and live in Tema-Ghana, well I am 17 years old. I have had to keep secret to myself since I was only 6 years old. My uncle used to touch me under my underwear, he sexually abused me whenever he comes to our house. This happened for almost 10 years untill now finally he moved far away from our home.
I become very quiet, My parents constantly screaming at me because am sooo quite and i can hardly associate with my friends and family. I told my mom about my Uncle, she completely ignore me "ONLY BECAUSE HE IS HER TWIN BROTHER" and our CULTURE & VALUE..!!! and I feel like it's all my fault.
I find hard to forget what he did to me and now I've been constantly crying and avoiding going to school. I'm still having the flashbacks from what he did to me, when I was just 6 years old. I find hard to move on, things at home aren't great either. I like you so much, and you inspires me alot Sporah.

If you were in my position, what would you do, Like even to try and get rid of the flashbacks, does anyone have any advice on how to stop feeling like this and try and move on, and be brave? Because I just don't know.

I am so sorry this happened to you. While I can't imagine what you are going through, I do know that it is NOT YOUR FAULT. The family on your uncles side are in denial and should be ashamed of themselves. I know you will find peace and happiness in the years to come despite what you have been through.

Wazazi wengi wanakua hawautaki ukweli.

The problem with our people is this their 'over Godliness'. When thee deed is done, the devil is blamed.
It's only natural for a man to always express his sexual desire especially when left alone with the opposite sex.

honey, if you dont get revenge on him you will always have anger within yourself. How good would it feel for you to know that he will be behind bars for 10 or more years? pretty good right? then do it. all you need to do is call 911. they will make him go away for a very long time and you will be sooo happy to know that he wont do this to any other little girl. thats truely the best thing you can do.

Honey, the same thing happened to me when I was 11. He was a pillar of his community and a hard core church goer. Because of his status, I decided to keep my mouth shut, because, in my mind, it was all my fault, and he, being this god fearing christian was the innocent victim. His wife was my moms sister, and I didn't want to create problems. So now i lv with my friends, i don' wanna know my family.
