Sport Is A Great Tool To Unite People
The Paralympic Games are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change the way society views disability. And THE SPORAH SHOW wanted to hear from Tanzania sporting heroes looking at attitudes toward disabled people in Tanzania. Shockingly, the disabled people we spoke to from Tanzania felt that attitudes towards them have got worse and worse, and all have experienced aggression, discrimination, hostility and name calling from other people.
They said, the real issues that affect disabled people on a day-to-day basis in Tanzania are often ignored. Staring from children and old people with disability, workplace, Education and public transport.
The London 2012 Paralympic Games have been the most popular ever, with record ticket sales and millions more watching on TV. The best disabled sportspeople from all around the world have lit up Britain's capital city on their quest for Paralympic glory.
I asks whether their legacy will be a change in the way Tanzania's disabled people are treated, what do you think??
But many countries have had little or no coverage of the games. Do people outside the UK really care about the Paralympics? And have the London Paralympics changed your attitudes towards the disabled?
I genuinely believe the Paralympics will change perceptions of disability in many countries, and i hope it will do the same to the Tanzanian society in Tanzania.
HAVE THE PARALYMPICS CHANGED YOUR VIEW OF DISABILITY?
