First dates are exciting! They’re full of promise, but they also have the potential to fail miserably! Check out my tips for making sure you’re first date goes off without a hitch.
On A First Date You Should:
Look Your Best. First impressions are important, and while looks are never the most important thing about a person, if you look good, you’ll feel good, and confidence on a first date is key.
Make Eye Contact! Is there anything worse than trying to have a conversation with someone who is looking at the table? Looking your date in the eye will definitely heighten attraction… Just try not to stare too hard… You might come across psychotic.
Find A Balance Between Listening And Speaking. Awkward silences on a first date should be avoided at all costs! So make sure you’re able to hold a conversation. At the same time, talking about yourself consistently over the course of a dinner is not a good idea, so learn to listen!
Smile! Smiling is important! It’s charming, it’s cute. NEVER underestimate the power of a good smile.
Bring Money. This is the twenty-first century ladies, and though we all love a bit of chivalry, always be prepared. And even if your date insists on paying, you offering to pay will only make you look better.
On A First Date You Should Not:
Get Drunk! I will be the first to tell you, from experience, getting drunk on a date is a BIG NO! Not only will you lose perspective, but the chances of you seriously embarrassing yourself are very VERY high!
Talk About Your Ex. If you’re ex is the only topic of conversation you can come up with, perhaps you aren’t ready to date another person. Talking about your ex on a date is a massive turn-off.
Check Your Phone Constantly. There are some phone calls that cannot be ignored, but for the most part, keep your phone in your bag or your pocket.
Try Too Hard. Just be yourself. Honesty is always the best policy. If they don’t like you exactly as you are, perhaps they aren’t the right person.
Be Late. Lateness on a first date isn’t necessarily a deal breaker, but it is incredibly annoying, and you don’t want to begin a date when one party is already agitated.
